Callie North's Alone Season 3 Gear List: All 10 Items

2026-05-20

Spoiler note: this covers how Callie North's run on Alone Season 3 ended.

Callie North, 27, from Lopez Island, Washington, placed fifth in Alone Season 3, lasting 72 days in the Andean foothills of Argentine Patagonia. Unlike most of the contestants who finished ahead of her, North's exit was not medical. She tapped out by personal choice after a final meal, saying she felt her journey was complete. She was also noted among the cast for her resourcefulness building camp items. Winner Zachary Fowler lasted until day 87, 15 days longer. Full season detail is on our Season 3 guide; North's own page is here.

The full list

North's ten items have no brand names recorded in our data, but several carry specific detail, including a handmade knife that fits her reputation for building her own camp gear.

Item Brand / model Why it mattered
Knife Not recorded (handmade, bone-handled, 1095 carbon steel) Daily cutting, food prep, and a reflection of her hands-on skill set
Saw Not recorded (folding, long-handled pruning saw) Faster timber processing for shelter and fire
Sleeping bag Not recorded (-40F, dry down) Warmth through 72 nights in Patagonian terrain
Tarp Not recorded (heavy-duty, hand-sewn military-grade, 40 mil) Weatherproof shelter cover
Pot Not recorded (2-quart, with lid) Cooking whatever she caught
Fishing line and hooks Not recorded (10 lb and 40 lb test, 25 hooks) Trout fishing, the season's dominant food source
Paracord Not recorded (40m, 550 cord) Shelter lashing and camp utility
Ferro rod Not recorded Fire starting
Emergency food rations Not recorded Backup calories
Emergency food rations Not recorded A second backup allotment

The tarp and sleeping bag pages cover how other contestants have used North's two heaviest shelter items, both notably rated for extreme conditions (a -40F bag and a 40 mil hand-sewn tarp), and the hunting knife page tracks the handmade and factory blades that show up across seasons.

No axe on the list

North's list has no axe or hatchet at all, an omission shared with fellow Season 3 contestant Megan Hanacek, though the two handled it differently: Hanacek carried a bivy bag in that slot, while North carried a knife and folding saw combination instead. Between a handmade bone-handled knife and a hand-sewn 40 mil tarp, North's list leans into the same resourcefulness the show's producers noted about her on camera; several of her items read as built or modified rather than bought off a shelf, even where the underlying brand is not recorded.

Her -40F sleeping bag is the coldest rating recorded among this group of Season 3 finishers, notably colder than Carleigh Fairchild's -30F bag, a detail that fits a contestant who ultimately chose to end her run rather than being forced out by cold or hunger.

What her run says about the field

At 72 days, North's fifth-place finish was the shortest of this group of four Season 3 finishers profiled here, one day behind Nessia's 73. But it is also the only one of the four that ended entirely by her own decision rather than injury or a medical threshold. Every contestant in the field worked within the same official rules allowing ten items, and North's choice to walk away on her own terms, with a stocked-and-warm setup still functioning, sets her run apart from the rest of the season's later finishers.
