The Alone Season 7 Cast: Where Are They Now
2026-06-24
Spoiler note: this post covers who won Alone Season 7.
Season 7 changed the rules. Instead of simply outlasting everyone else, contestants had to survive a fixed 100 days on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories to claim a $1,000,000 prize, which meant there could have been several winners, or none at all. The season premiered June 11, 2020. Exactly one person made it: Roland Welker. The format details are on our Season 7 page, and the prize structure is covered in the Alone rules explainer.

The 100 Day King
Roland Welker, a 47-year-old Alaska hunting guide, was dropped off September 18, 2019 and walked out December 26, having built a semi-permanent log and boulder shelter he called the Rock House with a shortened two-man crosscut saw. He fed himself with a longbow, a gill net, and snare wire through an Arctic winter, and the run earned him the nickname The 100 Day King. After nearly three decades based in the fly-in village of Red Devil, Alaska, he is reported as of mid-2026 to be living back in his native Pennsylvania, still hunting, trapping, and making appearances around his survival story.
The deep runs
Callie Russell was the only other contestant to get close, medically evacuated on day 89 with frostbitten toes. She later returned for the Alone: Frozen spinoff, finishing third there, and continues to teach ancestral living skills. Kielyn Marrone reached day 80 before starvation ended her run; she and her husband Dave still operate Lure of the North, their off-grid winter expedition outfit in northern Ontario. Amós Rodriguez, the primitive skills instructor who grew up in El Salvador, lasted 58 days and also came back for Alone: Frozen.
The middle of the field
Mark D'Ambrosio tapped on day 44 because he missed his son, and later took another swing at the franchise on Alone: Frozen. Joe Nicholas, the National Park Service biologist, left from cold and starvation at a reported 44 days as well; he did not bring a bow, which limited his hunting options. Joel Van Der Loon made day 40 before starvation forced him out, and he later appeared on the Alone: The Skills Challenge spinoff.
The early exits
Keith Syers, the Kentucky homesteader, was evacuated on day 22 with food poisoning and a resulting infection. Correy Hawk, the traditional bowyer, tore his meniscus and was pulled on day 12. Shawn Helton had the season's roughest luck, tapping on day 10 after losing his ferro rod, the one item standing between him and reliable fire.
Season 7 remains the only US season with a fixed survival threshold. Our winners page puts Welker's 100 days in context against every other champion, and the FAQ explains why the million dollar format has not returned since.
