Alone Season 8 Episode Guide: Every Episode, Recapped
2026-07-05
Spoiler note: this covers every episode of Season 8, including who won.
Season 8 was the show's first true alpine, high-elevation season, filmed at British Columbia's Chilko Lake and marketed as "Grizzly Mountain" for its unusually dense bear population. It ran 12 episodes on History from June 3 to August 19, 2021, including a bonus retrospective special alongside the finale.

Episode-by-episode
1. "The Hunted." Ten survivalists are dropped along Chilko Lake, adjusting to thinner air and terrain known for one of the densest grizzly populations in North America.
2. "Open Season." Tim Madsen develops a racing heart and chest pains within a week and uses his satellite phone to call for a medical evacuation on day 6, the season's first departure.
3. "Chewed Up." Growing predator pressure forces contestants to rethink food storage and camp security. No one leaves this episode, and the field holds at nine.
4. "Far From Home." The psychological weight of isolation proves decisive for three contestants in quick succession: Jordon Bell taps out on day 19 and Matt Corradino on day 22, both citing homesickness, while Michelle Finn leaves on day 21 after a starvation-level decline. The field drops from nine to six in a single episode.
5. "The Buck." With six left, focus shifts toward bigger game as one contestant pursues a deer for a fat-rich haul. No one leaves this episode.
6. "Smoked." Survivalists focus on smoking and preserving food, until Nate Weber falls seriously ill from apparently contaminated water and leaves on day 24.
7. "Surrounded." Past the one-month mark, one contestant has a close call with a grizzly bear, while another lands a large bull trout and smokes about 50 pounds of meat from it. No one leaves this episode.
8. "The Grizzly." Rose Anna Moore is medically evacuated on day 37 after frostbite combined with malnutrition, narrowing the field to four.
9. "The Troll." The final four settle into the grinding rhythm of late-season rationing. No tap-outs this episode.
10. "All In." Colter Barnes is medically evacuated on day 67 after his weight loss and low BMI reach a dangerous point, leaving three survivalists for the finale.
11. "The Reckoning." Theresa Emmerich Kamper is medically evacuated on day 69 after her BMI drops too low, and Biko Wright is medically evacuated on day 73 for starvation symptoms and heart palpitations, one day before the finish. Clay Hayes is declared the winner on day 74.
12. "Ultimate Moments." A bonus retrospective clip-show revisiting standout moments from across the show's history, plus Season 8 cast reflections; not new survival footage.
Reading the data
The source file flags that Wikipedia provides no per-episode plot text for this season at all, only a short epigraph quote per episode, so the placements above were reconstructed from EPG-style preview blurbs and explicit devdiscourse episode-preview coverage for episodes 6, 10, and 11. Grouping Jordon Bell, Michelle Finn, and Matt Corradino into episode 4, and Tim Madsen into episode 2, is a reasoned chronological inference rather than a directly cited episode number, and the medical-versus-voluntary classification for a few exits involved judgment calls where Wikipedia's own wording was inconsistent.
